The nuclear bomb is 65 years old; time for retirement. The Non Proliferation Treaty however only prohibits an increase in the number of countries with nuclear weapons, but hardly any effort goes into disarmament. Just rumors about the possibility of a country having nuclear weapons continue to create tension internationally and the threat of conflict, for instance in the Middle East. As long as nuclear weapons exist true peace and security are not possible. IKV Pax Christi is committed to a nuclear weapons free world, which is the only way to prevent that this weapon of mass destruction is ever used.
